Scott Yardley for Flordia House Fighting For State Rights Tenth Amendment
I see in the near future a
crisis approaching that
unnerves me and causes
me to tremble for the
safety of my country. . . .
corporations have been
enthroned and an era of
corruption in high
places will follow, and
the money power of the
country will endeavor to
prolong its reign by
working upon the
prejudices of the people
until all wealth is
aggregated in a few
hands and the Republic
is destroyed..

STATES RIGHTS
Our Constitution strictly limits the powers of the federal government.  Its primary function is to provide for the
national defense and secure our national borders.  Healthcare, economic issues, education, and use of natural
resources within the State should be addressed at the state level.  The Tenth Amendment reserves such rights to
the states and to the people.
Federal bureaucracy has been steadily encroaching on States Rights, moving into areas that were never intended
to be under the control of a central government.  The failure of the Florida Legislature to challenge and check this
abuse is a silent relinquishment of our States Rights to the federal government.
As your Representative in the Florida Legislature, I will passionately defend Florida's Tenth Amendment Rights.
We can address and solve our most pressing problems right here on the state level, without unnecessary federal
involvement.
LAWSUIT ABUSE REFORM
The more doctors are sued, the more malpractice insurance cost. The more malpractice insurance cost, the more
doctors charge. The more doctors charge, the more health insurance cost.
Lawyers charge $200 to $400 a hour (or more). Their fees add up quickly. Even if a doctor is innocent, he rather
have his insurance company pay an out of court settlement than continue paying a defense lawyer from his own
pocket. The suing lawyer knows this so he purposely drags out a case to force a settlement.  Lawsuits almost
never go to court.  They are settle because lawyers drag out cases to earn more money.
Laws must be passed to stop and penalized predatory lawyers.  This is called “Tort Reform.” It’s aim is not to
limit your right to compensation, but, to prevent lawyers from leaching off the insurance system.

POLITICAL CORRUPTION
I believe in accountability of government.  Any county or city government that receives state funds must be
required to maintain open books.  The Citizens of Florida have the right of easy access to information regarding
how much money was received and how every dime of it was spent.  Transparency, under the watchful eyes of
diligent Citizens, can be a major deterrent to corruption.
Politicians must be held personally accountable.  Elected officials and government regulators should not be
allowed to use their time in public office to prepare for future, financial gain.  It is impossible to serve the public
in an honorable manner while, at the same time, looking for ways to use your public office to lay the groundwork
for personal gain after you leave office.  We can help our public servants keep their minds on their jobs by
banning them from ever becoming lobbyists.
ECOMONY
The potential to turn this economy around lies with our small businesses.  They are Florida's largest employers.  It
is in the interest of the State to promote the growth of existing small businesses and development of new ones
through tax incentives and fair legislation.
We need to keep corporations out of government. Big CEO’s know it’s cheaper to contribute to a campaign fund,
create a political PAC, or hire ex-legislatures as lobbyist than to compete honestly. These unfair practices prevent
the free market from doing what it does naturally. Which is lower prices, grow small business and increase jobs.
We also need to keep the free market free. Over legislation of the market creates a bureaucracy that only large
bureaucratic corporations can compete in.
PRO-LIFE
I am a pro-life candidate.  I believe that an unborn child has a right to life.
Abortion is a multi-billion dollar industry with well-funded political lobbyists.  Abortion clinics have no interest
in advising women of other options.  Choosing another option would mean the loss of a customer.
Abortions eliminate "the evidence" of statutory rape and protect child predators who impregnate underage girls.
Often young girls receive abortions without any involvement of their parents.  A young girl "in trouble" is easy
prey for money-hungry abortionists.
As your Representative, I will support legislation requiring that every woman seeking an abortion must be fully
advised of the potential health dangers of an abortion and of options to abortion that are available to her.
ISRAEL
Israel is our true and faithful ally.  In the entire Middle East, Israel is the only democracy and the only place
where women are considered equal to men, where women have the same rights and status as men.
Although foreign policy matters are generally considered the domain of the federal government, states have some
degree of influence in this area.  For example, Florida was the first state in the nation to divest retirement funds
from Iran as a sign of protest against Iran's nuclear ambitions that directly threaten Israel.  The Florida Legislature
passed a resolution of support for Israel in her war against Hamas.
As your Representative in Tallahassee, I will do everything in my power to assure that Florida remains a friend
and ally to Israel.
